Conditions at Preacher’s Point continue to look strong. The areas we checked are now averaging around 19 cm of ice, and the clear, green, bubble-filled ice remains just as impressive. Keep in mind, though, that conditions change quickly. Thickness still varies over short distances, and with moving water beneath the surface, this system continues to shift from day to day. You’ll still encounter patches of open water along parts of the shoreline.
As always, a reminder that wild ice, especially in the early season, can be unpredictable. If you’re not fully confident in your ice safety skills - or if you simply want help finding the best bubble zones - we continue to recommend joining one of our Ice Bubble Tours. Our guides are out daily, keeping a close eye on changing conditions, and what looked perfect a few days ago can look very different tomorrow.
