Ice thickness is now averaging 20+ cm at all main access points. Recent strong winds have helped clear much of the snow from the ice surface, improving visibility in many areas with lots of great patches of bubbles to be found. Cline Landing and Preacher’s Point continue to have significant snow coverage. Watch for weak and unstable ice along the shoreline, as this is where most incidents occur. As water levels drop, shoreline ice can become increasingly slanted and unstable, making the return to your vehicle more difficult - especially if you are not using traction devices.
A reminder to anyone venturing onto the lake to always check ice thickness frequently and independently. Ice conditions can vary widely, and seeing others on the ice does not guarantee it is safe.
As always, these updates are shared for general awareness only. If you’re unsure about ice assessment, or simply want to find the best bubble spots, we strongly recommend joining one of our Ice Bubble Tours.
Weather conditions look relatively stable over the next couple of weeks, and we are not anticipating any major changes to the ice. As a result, our updates may become slightly less frequent unless conditions shift significantly. For a snapshot of real-time conditions, follow our Instagram and Facebook stories, where we typically share daily updates whenever we’re on the lake.
