Freeze-up continues across Abraham Lake with sustained cold temperatures helping to build ice. In areas we checked between the Ice Bubble Viewpoint and Cline Landing, ice thickness is currently averaging 15-18 cm. Recent and ongoing snowstorms are significantly affecting visibility. The least amount of snow cover is currently observed near the Ice Bubble Viewpoint, while Cline Landing and Preacher’s Point are fully snow covered. This snow can hide hazards such as thin ice, cracks, or open water beneath. Visual assessment is especially difficult but important under these conditions.
Early-season conditions persist, and ice stability is still developing. Ice thickness can change rapidly from day to day due to weather, wind, and underlying currents. Anyone venturing out must check ice thickness frequently and independently, as conditions cannot be assumed to be uniform.
As always, these updates are provided for general awareness only. If you’re uncertain about conditions, we strongly recommend joining one of our Ice Bubble Tours.
We aim to share ice reports once or twice per week, but conditions evolve rapidly. For the most up-to-date information, keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook stories, where we typically post daily whenever we’re on the lake.
