Conditions at Preacher’s Point continue to look solid. The areas we checked are now averaging around 20 cm of ice, and the clear, green, bubble-filled ice remains in good shape. The area received about 5 cm of snow on Tuesday, but strong winds have already cleared most of it off the surface and the ice is actively being polished. As always, remember that conditions can shift quickly. Thickness still varies over short distances, and with moving water beneath the ice, the system continues to evolve from day to day. You’ll still find occasional patches of open water along sections of the shoreline, along with some new ice heaves and unique formations as water levels drop.

A reminder that wild ice - especially this early in the season - can be unpredictable. If you’re not fully confident in your ice-safety skills, or if you simply want help finding the best bubble zones, we continue to recommend joining one of our Ice Bubble Tours. Our guides are out daily, keeping a close eye on changing conditions, and what looks perfect one day can look very different the next.

Looking ahead, an interesting mix of weather is on the way. A cold front, a chinook, snow, and strong winds are all expected over the next week or so, and we anticipate more changes across the ice surface as these systems move through.

Stay aware out there, and enjoy the bubbles!
