Ice conditions on Abraham Lake have improved significantly over the past few days thanks to sustained cold temperatures. Many of the problem areas identified in last week's report are healing as colder overnight lows have allowed them to refreeze and strengthen. That said, conditions remain dynamic.
Some areas that refroze after the warm period may still be weaker than the surrounding, older ice - particularly near shoreline, around inlets, and in locations where open water was recently present. While these areas are improving, caution remains essential. Users should continue practicing good ice assessment, watch for visual changes in the ice surface, and avoid complacency.
Looking ahead, we have some snow in the forecast over the next couple of days, which will bring more changes. Stay tuned!
As always, for a snapshot of real-time conditions, follow our Instagram and Facebook stories, where we typically share daily updates every day we’re on the lake.
These reports are shared for general awareness only. Always check ice thickness frequently and independently. Ice conditions can vary widely, and seeing other people on the ice does not guarantee it is safe. If you’re unsure about ice assessment, or simply want to find the best bubble spots, we strongly recommend joining one of our Ice Bubble Tours.
