Preacher’s Point is still the only part of Abraham Lake that is frozen, and the ice is currently 90% snow-covered after the latest storms. There is roughly 10 cm of snow on the ice, which can obscure hazards such as cracks near the shoreline, making route awareness especially important. Lots of bubbles and ice patterns to be found if you know where to look.
With the cold front moving in, we expect conditions to continue changing, and there should be some interesting updates to share by early next week.
As always, these observations are provided as guidance only. Snow-covered ice can hide weak spots and cracks, so always assess conditions for yourself and travel with caution. If you are unsure, we always recommend booking one of our Ice Bubble Tours.
We try to post these ice reports once or twice a week, but conditions change fast. For more updates, follow our stories on Instagram or Facebook as we usually post every day that we are out there.
