Preacher’s Point is offering some impressive early-season conditions, with the areas we tested averaging around 18 cm of ice. Some amazing bubbles to be found and clear, green, smooth ice! That said, early-season ice is highly variable, and thickness can change dramatically over short distances. With moving water underneath, the ice here is part of a dynamic system that can shift from day to day. You will find areas of open water along the shoreline.
Please remember that these observations are guidance only. Always verify ice thickness for yourself, and never assume the ice is safe just because others are out there. Stay cautious and stay safe!

Early-season conditions can be unpredictable, and for anyone who isn’t confident in their ice safety skills - or simply wants to find the best bubble spots - we strongly recommend joining an Ice Bubble Tour. Our guides are on the ice every day, monitoring changes as conditions shift, and what you see on social media one day may look completely different the next.
Our guided tours are now available, with options ranging from quick 1.5-hour adventures to full-day custom photography experiences.
Happy bubble hunting!
